Comedian, actor and one of the hosts of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg, has announced she is launching a line of cannabis products designed to help women with their period pain.
The company, Whoopi and Maya, was formed with Whoopi’s friend Maya Elisabeth, who is an edibles maker. The line will contain a balm, a tincture, sipping chocolate, and a bath soak. When the line officially goes on sale it will only be available to medical marijuana patients in California at first.
“I want to go nice and slow with this. I don’t want this to be a joke to people. It’s not a joke to women,” Goldberg said.
Whoopi joins an ever-growing list of celebrities who are jumping into the cannabis industry. They are the people establishing brands early on in an industry in its infancy.
With her name recognition and a built-in female audience that watches her every weekday, Whoopi already has everything she needs to market her new business venture. As long as she puts out good, quality products, she is poised to dominate a demographic not many others are paying attention to: female cannabis users.
