Top 4 Most Awesome Fictional Libertarian Characters
2. Ron Swanson of Parks and Recreation
Was there really any question if Ron would make it on this list? After the neocon’s dream of G.W. Bush being in the White House, and now the progressive whiney liberal’s dream of Obama sitting in the Oval Office, NBC’s Parks and Recreation brought us good old anti-government Ron Swanson just at the time we needed him. It was truly a breath of fresh air to hear some of his ever-so-true phrases.
1.Robin Hood
The whole theme of the old English folklore Robin Hood is taxation is theft. Many people misconstrue all the time about Robin Hood and his adventures. Many people say, “Well he stole from the rich and gave to the poor.” Let’s stop that incorrect interpretation of the wonderful story right now. As someone who grew up with an off-the-boat British grandmother, I grew up listening to the real story of Robin Hood. It was much deeper than just taking from the rich to give to the poor. So to all the socialists out there, you can stop that narrative now. What actually happens in the story, is the government (the monarchy), taxes its citizens into poverty. That’s when Robin Hood steps in and takes the tax money back from the government and gives it back to the citizens.
Therefore, that would make Robin Hood, the most, and oldest, libertarian fictional character of all time.
