Will Be The Second Green Party Town Hall
By: Elias J. Atienza
Fox Business Network’s John Stossel, host of Stossel, will be holding a Green Party Town Hall with Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Stein, who is currently hovering around 3 percent in the polls, had her last town hall hosted by CNN. It is unknown how many viewers watched the Green Party Town Hall, though 1.6 million tuned in for the last CNN Libertarian Town Hall.
Stossel is a stout supporter of Gary Johnson, so it will be interesting to see how the two interact with each other. Stein and Johnson agree on issues such as foreign policy and legalizing marijuana, but differ heavily on economic issues.
Stein’s proposed platform includes a “Green New Deal” where she wants to “create 20 million jobs by transitioning to 100% clean renewable energy by 2030, and investing in public transit, sustainable agriculture, conservation and restoration of critical infrastructure, including ecosystems.” Another part of her platform is to abolish all student debt and to make public universities tuition-free.
Stein has been marred with criticism, especially on scientific issues. Stein said in March that wi-fi was dangerous and that we “should not be subjecting kids’ brains” to it. Wi-fi, according to many studies, is not dangerous for children. She also has called for a moratorium on GMOs and that people have “real questions” on vaccines.
Stein has criticized the notion that she is a wasted vote. Just last month she tweeted out that “all three corporate parties” called her a wasted vote, and linked The Libertarian Republic.
All 3 corporate parties say I'm taking "their" votes. So they're entitled to your vote? Votes are earned, not owned. https://t.co/HtHaNFbcCq
