Sherrod Brown: “We have a president who’s a racist”

During an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) of Ohio called President Trump a racist. “This country hasn’t dealt well with issues of race. We have a president who’s a racist,” said the potential presidential candidate.

Chuck Todd would press Brown, asking him if he truly believed that the president was racist in his heart. Brown responded,

“I don’t know what ‘in his heart’ means. I know he built his political career knowing what he was doing in questioning the legitimacy and the birthplace of the president of the United States.”

An obvious reference to President Trump’s birther claims against fmr. President Barack Obama. See the interview for yourself below:
