You’ve probably heard of Permit Patty and BBQ Becky, who recently rose the top of Social Media ire after appealing to authority over petty complaints of non-permitted lemonade stands and BBQ’s in the park.  Now United States Senate Candidate Josh Hawley has been dubbed HOA Hawley after a spat with his neighbor over a US Senate yard sign.

A caller to Missouri’s Gary Nolan Show detailed the incident about how he had given a yard sign to a friend of his. The man who received the sign is Josh Hawley’s neighbor, and the sign supported his opponent Austin Petersen, who currently is the only grassroots candidate with a debt free campaign and the only candidate, period, who is polling higher than incumbent Senator Claire McCaskill.

Hawley reportedly went to his neighbor’s house the same day the yard sign was put out, and notified the neighbor that he was in violation of the neighborhood HOA, threatening to contact the HOA if the sign was not removed.

After the incident was reported, supporters of Austin Petersen began using the hashtag #HOAHawley on Twitter. Comments and memes have began appearing paired with the term HOA Hawley to criticize the candidate of bullying his neighbor over supporting a candidate other than him.
