The House Liberty Caucus, chaired by Representative Justin Amash (R-MI), came out in opposition to the new budget passed by the Senate that would increase the national debt by $9.7 trillion even though it also repeals Obamacare. The House Liberty Caucus consists of libertarian and libertarian-leaning lawmakers such as Representatives Thomas Massie (R-Ky) and Mark Sanford (R-SC).

“This may be the worst budget ever seriously considered by Congress,” said caucus Executive Director Matt Weibel, in a statement. “It never balances, and it grows the national debt by more than $9 trillion over the next decade—to nearly $30 trillion—dwarfing debt increases proposed by even the most far-left budgets.”

Weibel argued that there are other ways to repeal Obamacare without adding it to the budget and urged Congress to reject it.

Amash came out against it as well in a statement on Facebook and blasted the budget on Twitter.

“By nearly every measure, #SConRes3 is the worst budget I’ve seen as a congressman. It grows the national debt by trillions of dollars. Check out the comparison chart. The House vote is scheduled for Friday. There’s still time to let your representative in Congress know what you think about it,” Amash wrote on Facebook.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote against the budget, arguing that Kentucky sent him to stop out of control spending.
