[POLL] Should Libertarians Support Israel?

Today’s poll asks our readers their views on the state of Israel.

A Politico story about future Republican presidential candidates said that Senator Rand Paul would have to work hard to prove that his less interventionist foreign policy is not an anti-Israel position.

From Politico:

[Paul] … has done well in the invisible primary – fundraising, hiring, message, travel, buzz and media. Insiders tell us he has a 95 percent chance of running, with an announcement likely in April. His biggest hurdle is the pro-Israel leanings of many top GOP donors, who will have trouble accepting the recent course correction to his past skepticism of U.S. engagement abroad.

The issue of the state of Israel is of heated debate in libertarian circles. Some are quick to support Israel and their right of self defense, while maintaining the belief that the US government should remain neutral towards them. Others say that they do not support Israel at all due to perceived human rights violations. Still others argue that they do support Israel personally and that the US government should do whatever it takes to ensure their defense because it is in our national self interest. And perhaps there is some small contingent of people that do not support them personally, but see a need for the US government to do so.

Our poll today gauges our reader’s general viewpoints towards Israel. If you’d like to expand on this discussion after you’ve voted, please do so in the comment section below.
