Donations working better than taxes for Louisiana flood victims
By: Darrell England
Most people remember Hurricane Katrina, when government services were so “delayed” as to be declared useless in the minds of many. But the recent flooding in Louisiana is the worst in years, and the people are not up for any more poor government rescue and disaster relief services. The headline for the Fee.org article says it all: “In Louisiana, Private Disaster Relief Outperforms the Government”
Here are just a few highlights for some real people and private business heroes:

All assistance to Louisiana victims is helpful, but questions must be asked when money is taken from everyone’s paychecks to pay for slower services. Every hero is a hero, regardless if from your neighbor or government. Some have donated time, services and money, while others may have actually gotten paid. Whatever the case may be, this recent news sure makes some wonder if your donations and personal efforts are more effective than services provided by higher taxes.
