Leaked Recordings Show GOP Secretly Worried About Obamacare Repeal

by Micah J. Fleck

Apparently all is not homogeneous inside the belly of the GOP. According to a new report, GOP insiders are worried about the upcoming repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care  Act:

Leaked recordings from a closed door session during the Republican Party’s retreat in Philadelphia show that the GOP is concerned about Donald Trump’s plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. The tapes were sent to The Washington Post on Thursday night. The Post confirmed the authenticity of the recordings, and the quotes attributed to lawmakers.

The Republican lawmakers have a host of concerns over the political fallout from repealing the law because many parts of the law are popular with many people. Rep. Tom McClintock wanted to make sure they got it right because their replacement is “going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and we’ll be judged in the election less than two years away.”

Trouble in paradise already, it would seem. But what this ultimately means for the stability of the Trump administration and the GOP at large will likely not be fully understood until a few years into this new, Republican-run era. Hopefully the Grand Old Party can keep it together, and hopefully the American people will get a fair chance at real healthcare reform this time around. Hopefully. For the first time in awhile, the politicians in charge as well as the citizens will benefit from the same outcome. So that makes it being a favorable one all the more likely.
