How to Prepare for the Missouri Driver’s Written Test

A driver’s license is a basic requirement before one can drive in the state of Missouri, as in other States. However, before you can get a license, you first need to acquire a learner’s permit. In order to be granted such a permit, you need to pass a state DMV written test.

Why is this necessary? Basically, the written test allows the state to assess if you have sufficient knowledge about road signs, traffic, safety, and other aspects about driving. While the test is not really that difficult, many still fail it. Either people are just too confident or complacent, and do not prepare enough for the exam. In other words, people take the exam for granted.

To pass the DMV written test, you need a lot of practice and preparation before taking it. A big part of your preparation is getting online resources. You can find tons of these online. These resources contain DMV written test questions which help you practice and prepare for the test. The more you practice, the more you gain knowledge and confidence.

Never commit the mistake of taking the driver’s test without preparation. Do not take it for granted. If you badly need that driver’s license, then you better work hard to get it. Pass the test on the first try and save yourself the trouble and expenses of having to take it again and again.

In connection with this, we have prepared some guidelines on how you can prepare for the Missouri driver’s written test. Just follow these guidelines and do your part:

Read the Driver’s Manual

The Driver’s Manual or DMV Manual is your primary source. The guideline contains all the necessary rules and regulations about traffic laws, parking laws, road safety, and other relevant laws in the State of Missouri. The manual also covers different road signs. The questions in your upcoming DMV written test will revolve around these rules and regulations. You cannot take the test without reading the manual or Driver’s Guide first.

The first thing you should do is to get a copy of the Driver’s Manual. You can head to the Missouri Department of Revenue and ask for a hard copy of the manual, or you can visit their website and download a PDF version of the manual. Download the material to your phone, e-reader, tablet, or computer, whichever you prefer. You can then print it if you want to read on paper, rather than on your screen.

Remember that the state will base the questions on the manual. It goes without saying that you should read the manual and familiarize yourself with the important rules and regulations.

Take online tests

Now that you have studied and committed to memory important provisions of the DMV manual, the next step is to test your knowledge. The best way to assess your knowledge about the manual is to do some practice tests similar to the actual written test. Fortunately, there are tons of online tests available.

By taking the practice test, you will more or less get the hang of the exam. You will get to know which questions usually come out in the actual test. At least, you will have an idea of what the actual test will be, and how difficult it is. This way, you will know ahead if you are prepared or you need to study more. You will know in advance what are your strengths and weaknesses, which rules and regulations you have sufficient knowledge of, and which you still don’t know.

Here’s what you need to know about the practice test and the actual written test. The test has 25 questions. In order to pass the test, you need to get 20 correct answers.  During your practice test, you need to ensure that you get 20 questions or more. That way, you will know if you are truly ready for the actual test or not. The good thing about these online practice tests is that the questions are taken right from the Driver’s Guide.  So it really helps you prepare for the test and build your confidence as you go.

Final Tip

During the actual test, you need to stay calm and focused. Just relax and trust in what you have read and what you know. Read the questions carefully. Understand the questions, but do not overanalyze. Do not take too long in answering each question since the test is timed.  Just answer the questions to the best of your knowledge and ability.
