Palin Followers Pissed By Her Lengthy Facebook Screed Attacking Cruz

Critics are calling former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a “disappointing” sellout to presidential candidate Donald Trump and her Facebook post denouncing Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign’s “lies” about opponent Ben Carson unfair.

“Sarah you disappoint me you sold out to a liberal big Government windbag and are spreading lies about a true conservative,” one apparently former fan of Palin writes in one of the top comments on her post. “Ted Cruz was just reporting what CNN reported.”

Cruz apologized to Carson this week after his staff blasted an email prior to the Iowa Caucus saying — falsely — Carson was planning to drop out of the race. The email was based on a CNN report implying Carson was dropping out because he was reportedly heading back to Florida Tuesday.

“Look, if you want to be president of the United States, you don’t go home to Florida,” CNN’s Dana Bash said Monday ahead of the caucuses.

Cruz called the email a “mistake” and said his staff should have verified the report, and Carson accepted his apology. But Palin blasted the campaign in a lengthy Facebook post Wednesday, headlined “Dirty Politics: Witnessing Firsthand It’s Always Heartbreaking, Never Surprising.”

“Thank heavens Donald Trump opened so many eyes to the lies, corruption and total lack of accountability that come so naturally to the permanent political class,” Palin writes. “And Sen. Ted Cruz was spot on when he once noted that ‘millions of Americans are asking for accountability and truth.’ Which is why it’s so curious – and saddens us – this lack of accountability with the lies of Cruz’s own campaign.”

A number of critics and former supporters of Palin quickly called her out for unfairly attacking Cruz.

“CNN said Carson was suspending his campaign after Iowa, not going to SC or NH,” the top comment reads. “Natural inference is that he is finished… can’t blame Cruz for repeating it. Rubio and Trump people repeated it too… can’t blame one candidate for repeating what is on CNN.”

“To blame Cruz just shows how dishonest you’ve become, and apparently you are a paid shill,” another adds.

“I voted for you in the election with McCain not him,” one of the top comments reads. “I did that because I thought you were a conservative. I was really confused by your Trump endorsement, rather than endorsing one of the conservatives in the race. Now this attack on the purest conservative in the race before the facts are in. You had me fooled.”

“There was no conspiracy and you know it!” another comment reads. “They were parroting CNN reporters and CNN admitted saying it!”

“King shared what CNN reported,” another top comment reads. “He did not share the followup to the story, which he should have. Cruz was not behind it nor did he purposely try to undermine Carson’s campaign. … The big mistake? Watching CNN.”
