Louder with Crowder Takes Anti-PC Message to College Campuses

Recently at my college, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, there was an announcement that both excited me and worried me. Steven Crowder, a former Fox News anchor and host of Louder With Crowder, is coming to speak in December. I’m excited because he’s one of the loudest voices against PC culture and against a pressing societal need for conformity in almost all aspects of life.

I’m worried because of what the students at my college might do. Steven Crowder prides himself on being the most ‘anti-PC’ YouTube channel out there. And I’m glad that he’s against the PC mindset that is encroaching on our universities around the nation. (For example, look at University of Missouri recently). Last year the College Republicans hosted Christina Hoff Sommers, and judging from how other universities greeted her (Oberlin and Georgetown), I’d say it went a lot better than her other appearances (I have no idea if they had safe spaces and trigger warnings because I wasn’t here).

But there is a new breed of college student on campus. A new breed of student who witnessed the rise of Black Lives Matter and who is a product of the culture which babies students. It is no surprise the appearance of this type of student coincided with the rise of Bernie Sanders on the national level.

With these students on campus, I don’t know if there’s going to be a tirade of people looking for safe spaces, trigger warnings, or protesting and demanding that Steven Crowder be sent away because he might offend someone.

So in that sense Steven Crowder will be a welcome voice on campus. I’m lucky that Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is located in central California. There is a strong GOP presence here; a lot of people are conservative. I’m excited to see Steven Crowder and what he will bring. If you’re in the area stop by to see him speak. And if you’re a PC person, please feel free to be triggered and ask for a safe space.

And I’m not endorsing what he has to say. I’m just saying it’s good to see a different take on things than your usual college speaker.
