Trump’s Mandatory Dress Code Obviously Includes His Ties

President Donald Trump has a strict dress requirement, according to a Thursday Axios report.

Trump prefers that men in his administration wear Trump ties, according to the report. If no one can find those, a tie from Brooks Brothers or Armani is an acceptable stand-in.

“You’re always supposed to wear a tie. If it’s not a Trump tie, you can get away with Brooks Brothers. But I’d suggest Armani,” an unnamed source told Axios.

The one thing Trump can’t stand? A skinny tie. “I’ve always been surprised about how Stephen Miller survives with those thin ties.”

“If you’re going to be a public person for him, whether it’s a lawyer or representing him in meetings, then you need to have a certain look. That look —at least for any male — you have to be sharply dressed. Preferably, I would say, solid colors. … You should have a good physical demeanor, good stature, hair well groomed,” the source said.

The report mentions that “casting” is very important to Trump, and this is hardly the first time the issue has come up. Trump reportedly rejected former Amb. John Bolton on the basis of his mustache, according to a report in December. Bolton was on the list of potential picks for secretary of state, before Trump announced he would support Secretary of State Rex Tillerson earlier in January.

“You can come with somebody who is very much qualified for the job, but if they don’t look the part, they’re not going anywhere,” Jason Miller said in December about the Bolton report. “Presentation is very important because you’re representing America not only on the national stage, but also the international stage depending on the position.”
