The Editor in Chief of The Libertarian Republic Austin Petersen stopped by Thom Hartmann’s show Tuesday to discuss whether spending money on infrastructure is a boost to the economy. Does building roads really stimulate growth?
Petersen argued that although infrastructure spending sounds like a good idea, countries like Japan have made great strides privatizing their rail transport. Also, as government doesn’t operate on a profit motive, spending money on infrastructure during a recession is one of the worst things you can do because there are no proper signals to tell whether or not the “investment” actually pays off.
