Homeowner Wants Nudists At Beach Near His House Convicted Of Terrorism

Edit 3/5/15: A reader wrote in to correct our article. Three Mile Beach is in the city of Penticton in the interior of British Columbia, not near Vancouver at all. We strive for accuracy in journalism, and appreciate this correction.

A homeowner near a beach in Penticton wants nude sunbathers to be “convicted of terrorism.” A group of people who live near the beach are joining him outrage and circulating a petition to ban nudity on the beach. “We feel if we don’t do something about it now it’s only going to get worse,” said one.

The petition calls for “immediate action” to stop public nudity on Three Mile Beach. “It’s a really huge concern in the community,” one neighbor said. “Families and the public are no longer able to enjoy the place because there’s a bunch of people sitting there with their pants off.”

The conflict began back in May, when owners of a property blocked off an area because they said the naked people were scaring off prospective home buyers. Nudists responded by occupying an area adjacent to the blocked off area.

Dennis Roszell, who owns a home on the beach said in an email that, “The nudists have actually perpetuated their blatant crimes to a point of terrorist activity and should be convicted of terrorism.” He complained that the beach is becoming a place where people hook up to have sex.

The Province reported that nudists claim that they are the ones being harassed. “We’re about peace and relaxation and being with the environment, and being part of the environment and community,”said Dustin Wolchina.
