Trump’s odds in winning the 2020 election

On November 8 2016 Donald Trump became the president of the United States of America. There is little surprise in stating that it was a surprise to most of the world.

Yet, despite apparent chaos behind the scenes and the damaging link to the Russians, Trump has managed to stay in power for 19 months; and counting.

The cries to impeach him may have died back but the controversy continues. Equally, his efforts to boost the economy through tariffs and an ‘America first’ policy may not be proving too lucrative yet. But everyone has the opportunity to make a little money by betting on the presidential election in 2020.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re for him or against him; you can place a bet on whether he’ll win a second term or not.

The Odds For Him

Running presidents tend to have an advantage when it comes to election time. There are those that accept the brand of chaos brought by an individual and prefer this to the uncertainty of a new president.

There are, of course, many who feel he is already doing a good job and advancing the rights of Americans everywhere.

But perhaps the most compelling reason why he won election and is likely to be re-elected is the fact that he got into the hearts and minds of so many people across the country. His campaign was deliberately focused on building a connection and selling himself; as a normal person with a love of the US and its people.

The campaign worked then and is likely to work again in 2020.

It s worth noting that the state of the economy will also play an important part in his re-election. Trump promised to look after the jobs of the whites who feel they have been hard done by; if he delivers on his promise he’ll have won their vote for life.

The chances of this happening are actually surprisingly high; he doesn’t need to give them jobs; just hope.

Alongside this you need to consider the current competition. Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and Jo Biden are the forerunners and don’t appear to have the momentum yet to mount a serious challenge to re-election.

That’s why the bookies have Trump has 2-1 favorite for a second term in office.

What Goes Against Him?

His polices have certainly been varied and many have courted controversy. The Democrats underestimated him last time and they won’t be keen to make that mistake again.

Alongside there remains the continuing Mueller investigation and the potential scandals; often created by his own ego. There is still the potential for impeachment, especially if the Democrats manage to win back the house; although this does seem like a long shot. Despite the general media consensus against him, the Trump 2020 odds still hold in his favor.

It is possible that if he is unable to get any bills through the house he will be unable to achieve anything, ruining any credibility he has.

It’s also worth remembering that he is potentially facing obstruction of justice charges.

This could all stack up to make him an unviable or unattractive candidate. But at the moment the odds are still in his favor; watch this space
