Top 10 Most Idiotic Common Core Homework Assignments

Common Core – or more appropriately dubbed “Common Horror”- has motivated a legion of parents to share photos of some of the dumbest assignments their children are given for homework in public schools. It has made math the most abhorrent subject to any child who might otherwise enjoy it and even some revisionist history.

If there must be a standard, who ever thought it would be a good idea to have the government decide what that standard should be? If you had any doubts, wait until you see some of these “10 Dumbest Common Core Assignments”.

1. See if you can figure the ‘hidden answer’ on this one:

Proof of Illuminati conspiracy?

Maybe the “hidden partners” know the answer. If not, I’m certain students would have a choice ‘hidden’ finger as a quick response.

2. Common Core Approved! The Bill of Rights:

 

Notice that arms has been changed to “weapons” and that the clear verbiage of “the right to bear arms” has been omitted entirely. Left-leaning propaganda much?

That’s right kids, your freedom is granted by the government.

3. Number ‘no sense’:

Sure there’s an answer, but why does it matter? Can’t we just subtract?

4. Word problems where context is everything:

 

I know many of you are thinking – ‘Is that what we call our illegal immigrants these days?’ Actually, this was purposely written as an assignment given by Georgia’s Gwinnett school district. A spokesperson, Sloan Roach, said the third grade teachers were attempting to cross curriculums by adding some social studies lessons into the math problems.

However, the lack of historical context IS the issue here.

5. Sometimes it’s figuring out the wrong answer:

 

At this rate, government won’t ever have to worry about students becoming economic experts that can question their flawed economy policies.

6. Parents need the “Common Core Cheat Sheet”:

Just in case parents forget who the real holders of their children’s education are, the public school system says they must re-educate themselves. Thanks to Common Core, children needn’t fill their little heads with the idea that their parents can can actually help them. Only the government can! Only they have the answers!

7.  Common Core answers must be “friendly”:

It’s not enough to have the correct answer to a problem. Students must find the “friendly” numbers. We wouldn’t want to ‘trigger’ students by using enemy combatant numbers, now would we?

8. Only a government-run curriculum would equate coins with cups:

The first question has everyone wondering what a tea-cup and coins could possibly have in common? There is, perhaps, a correlation with the Boston Tea Party and taxation… just saying.

9. No math necessary for this math problem:

Maybe I’m nitpicking here, but wouldn’t this just be reading comprehension?

10. The correct answer to this common core problem would make a mess!

Don’t worry little Catherine, with a little QE we can raise the container ceiling. You’re not going to have to clean it up anyway!
