Teenager Killed by Police While Trying to Hold His Dog Back From Attacking Officers

A 17 year old was killed in Los Angeles County Thursday while trying to stop his aggressive dog from attacking police officers. As he jumped on the dog, he was struck in the chest with a bullet.

Captain Christopher Bergner said in a press conference that he believed the shot that hit the child was a product of  ” skip” rounds that ricocheted of the ground, originally intended to hit the dog.

“He may have been struck by one of the skip rounds in what we’re calling an extremely, extremely unfortunate incident,” said the captain.

“Our initial impression was [the deputies] didn’t even see the individual coming around from the side of the building.”
