School nurse arrested after stealing student’s medication
LAKE CITY, FL– Teresa Elwell‘s suspicions about the 24-year-old nurse at her grandson’s elementary school were aroused last February. She had given the nurse, Marilee Boozer, 15 Ritalin pills her grandson had been prescribed. A few days later, Boozer claimed she had dropped the pills down the sink and needed more.
“If she had spilled it down she still waited eight days before she called, which doesn’t make sense about it,” Elwell told Action News.
Elwell brought her concerns to the school’s principal, asking that Boozer be tested for drugs. They declined to do so, and for the next three months, unbeknownst to Elwell, her grandson was given a mysterious yellow pill instead of his prescribed Ritalin.

But last Tuesday, Marilee Boozer was finally charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance.
The nurse resigned that same day, and was later released on $5,000 bond.
It’s unclear how many drugs Boozer may have been lifting from students, and an investigation by the Columbia County School District is underway.
Elwell is concerned about the health repercussions her grandson may face after ingesting the wrong medication for months, and wants to see Boozer charged with child endangerment.
