The video, originally shared on World Star Hip Hop, has been seen over one million times, with a fierce debate that has raged since then on the Huffington Post. Most people would consider it child abuse, but some parents believe that if the mother’s story is true then she was well within her rights to discipline her child in such a way.
The question is whether or not you think that spanking or other forms of physical abuse are technically legal activity. Many libertarians see any form of physical violence as a violation of the non-aggression principle. But others see some room for corporal punishment as a way to instruct children in the realities of the harsh world that they will someday be faced with.
What do you believe? Does this go too far? Is some form of corporal punishment necessary, or is any act of violence considered abuse? Leave your comments below.
