GLOUCESTER, VA – A little girl in Virginia was found caged and attempting to eat herself when she was found and saved by police investigating a recent robbery. Brian and Shannon Gore (pictured above) were arrested and charged with first degree murder charges, felony child abuse and capital murder when the body of another child was found buried outside their trailer home. They will be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The found girl was believed to be 5 or 6 and lived in a crib converted into a makeshift cage. She had blond hair that was matted and filled with knots. She wore a diaper and a t-shirt and was eating her feces, hair and flakes of dried skin off of her body.
“I’ve done this for 20 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” Gloucester Sheriff’s Maj. Darrell Warren said.
A month-old baby boy was also found in the home but luckily was in good condition. He and the girl were cared for by the Department of Social Services for a brief time.
The girl was thankfully adopted and her adoptive parents say she “often cries thinking that she isn’t going to eat another meal”. They also say “she asks repeatedly when we will eat again and if she will be allowed to have any” and she has to be watched carefully when she eats for she eats so fast that she has choked.”
