Β Who are the brave?

RICHMOND, VA – Henrico County Police Officer Brian K. Anderson was awarded with the Silver Valor Medal on Friday. He said he was concerned about his safety and the safety of his colleagues when he shot a suspect carrying a cell phone.Β β€œI believed it was a gun 100 percent,” Anderson said. He added,Β β€œHe had a blank look. He was very disheveled. His hair was just in every direction.”

The man was pointing a cellphone at Anderson, but in that split second, Anderson believed he had to protect himself. The suspect had led them on a chase and officers believed he might be armed. After the man was shot and detained a gun was located in his vehicle and he was taken to the hospital. The suspect was successfully treated for a gunshot wound to the arm.

Wow. Don’t you feel brave. Have fun explaining that one to your grandkids.

chuckwilliams November 5, 2013 at 9:34 pm

I can’t imagine that man chasing anyone, unless they took his sandwich.

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 11:10 am

That’s prolly why he shot the guy… for making him run!

Robert Ramrattan November 12, 2013 at 1:06 am

I agree. “The reason I stopped y’all is cuz I smelt a sammige…”

VinceP98 November 5, 2013 at 9:38 pm

I don’t see how this guy should get an award for valor, but I also think he may have had justification for shooting the guy, given that the man had just lead them on a chase. Plus, at least he only wounded him. I would agree that he needs better training, but thn don’t all cops? There are way too many of them who view regular citizens as enemies.

Steve Daily November 12, 2013 at 8:31 am

They are trained. Trained to think of citizens as enemy combatants. The militarization of the police is another step toward martial law. It is coming, whether you see it or not.

Ken November 5, 2013 at 10:03 pm

Just another BS Cop story… Shoot an innocent man and get a medal.. Nice going you liberal idiots.

GG Johnson November 6, 2013 at 6:02 am

Where the hell do you get this liberal crap?

quantumcipher November 6, 2013 at 6:47 am

Don’t be a “useful idiot” for the false left-right paradigm agenda.

Why do those on the left and right, feel the need to blame everything in the world on the other? It’s called divide and conquer, and you’ve been manipulated to buy right into it.

The blame, for this, falls primarily on the officer involved, the department for not holding him accountable & rewarding him for attempted murder, our soulless politicians (left & right) for allowing this continue as the ‘new normal’, and the globalists for incorporating a hyper-violent oppressive police force into their agenda. Period.

Steve Daily November 12, 2013 at 8:29 am

Quantumcipher, you are speaking valuable truth.

Shinobi DeeJay November 6, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Liberal once meant a party that fought for liberty, but they stopped doing that when they turned socialist…… roughly when the “conservatives” turned socialist… wait.. that would mean there is no difference between the two… :O

Steve Daily November 12, 2013 at 8:29 am

ZING!

keane_matthews November 5, 2013 at 10:28 pm

Man holding cellphone gets shot; of COURSE the police then discover a gun in his car… If the officer had no trouble shooting a cellphone-armed man, he probably had no trouble planting a gun in the victim’s car.

Stazi November 6, 2013 at 4:38 pm

But, it is not illegal to have a gun in your car in Virginia, is it? Obvious ammo for the media’s anti-gun agenda (pun intended).

Seth A. Yellin November 7, 2013 at 3:40 pm

An illegal gun or a registered one…..?

BCreegan November 5, 2013 at 10:54 pm

Silver Valor Medal for what, exactly? He did what cops are trained to do. He didn’t go out of his way, displaying courage that most cops wouldn’t. I don’t get it. I guess I’ll google it.

CustomDesigned November 5, 2013 at 10:57 pm

The suspect was trying to use his cell phone to record what the police were doing to him. That is much worse than pointing a gun! Medal of Valor for sure.

CJ Stevenson November 6, 2013 at 12:30 am

This cavity creep is hungry!

samiam November 6, 2013 at 12:31 am

I guess i need to comb my hair from now on. Cant have the cops thinking I’m a threat because I’m “Disheveled”

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 11:07 am

Did you even read the article?
It is one of the worse and misleading titled articles I have seen in a while.
The guy was already running from the police when he took out his phone and pointed it towards them and he had a gun in his car.

Sounds like a dumbass small time pusher that stupidly jumped out of his car and ran when he saw a cop! And then most idiotically pulled out his phone and pointed it at them.

useless eater November 6, 2013 at 1:59 pm

Where the heck is the article? Regardless, i have a question- Does the article mention any association of this man with drugs?

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 2:44 pm

Key phrase “Sounds like”.

It also seems a lot like whoever made this article found a story from another news site. Saw that the original author mentioned “disheveled hair” in one sentence and centered his entire version around that one sentence.

useless eater November 6, 2013 at 2:46 pm

WHY does it sound like that to you?

hyraxx November 7, 2013 at 4:40 am

The man was just trying to record the cop. πŸ™

Seth A. Yellin November 7, 2013 at 3:42 pm

Possible if the gun ends up being registered in the name of the runner.

Andre Dufour November 7, 2013 at 7:29 pm

Good to know that pointing a cell phone at someone is an offense that justifies my death, as long as I have a messy head of hair and a gun locked away IN MY CAR. I’ll keep that in mind next time.

Steve Daily November 12, 2013 at 8:28 am

I’ve never committed a crime, but if a cop chases me, I’ll sure as f–k run away. Cops are crazed murderers in the new America.

Mario Lawrence November 6, 2013 at 12:50 am

Why was the guy pointing a cell phone at him? That was dumb.
But…
Did he receive a medal BECAUSE he shot a guy that pointed….. a CELL PHONE at him….?
What’s the Silver Valor Medal awarded for again?

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 11:06 am

Yea this article seems just like the police wanting some good attention for a change. Although the publisher seems to be a bit confused about the circumstances here.

Alexander November 6, 2013 at 2:23 am

I can see the cop shooting the man… but a medal? Really? For what? Defending himself from brain tumors caused by phone signals?

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 11:04 am

Defending himself from a heart attack caused by having to move all that weight another step!

Postol Front November 6, 2013 at 3:10 am

That huge cop defeated that puny punk with that dangerous cell phone.

Miss Smarty November 6, 2013 at 3:51 am

All his donuts appear to have gone right to his neck, how could he be in shape to be a cop. I’m worried about our country, sure has gone to hell in a hurry.

Guest November 6, 2013 at 11:18 am

But you can see the rest of him….

Connie Chastain November 6, 2013 at 11:19 am

But you can’t see the rest of him.

Juan November 6, 2013 at 4:30 am

Gun was in the car… Was it legal? Was it one of those evidence room specials with the serial # sanded off?

fuzznarf November 6, 2013 at 11:52 am

how about, was it legal to stop someone for having messy hair ‘in every direction’. This bs with putting the burden of innocence on the citizen is ridiculous. Cops are supposed to be held to a higher standard, not to no standard and complete accountability. The first question that should be asked in every police encounter is “Do the police have the Constitutional authority to be stopping this person?”

Brian Rooney November 7, 2013 at 4:07 pm

As much as I don’t like it…
I’m thinking that studing the constitution and all it’s articles needs to be included in school programs…

GodModeMario November 6, 2013 at 8:25 am

The guy was probably just recording them on his phone…

Dustin November 6, 2013 at 8:57 am

I think many of you are starting to get overzealous with this cop bashing. This site has a knack for putting cops who are stupid assholes in the spotlight. This is not one of those instances. Any one of you would have shot the guy given the circimstance (I believe many commenters did not even read the article). Shame on you for hastily condemning this officer and shame on the author for using such a misdirectional title.

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 10:48 am

I totally agree with you Dustin. Normally I dislike the law enforcers and everyone working in the “justice” industry!
But this case is a bit out of hand. The guy was running from the police(first mistike) and the stupidly pointed an opject at them while running.

No, in this case the guy was being an idiot but there is no reason to award the cop for just doing his job here!

fuzznarf November 6, 2013 at 11:50 am

There is nothing misleading about this. The guy who was shot did not have a gun on his person. He was holding a cell phone, and this POS cop shot him because this POS cop failed to properly assess the situation. Not to mention that the person shot was being stopped by the police for having messy hair! wtf is wrong with you where you think that the police are our overlords and we have to take it be submissive to their every whim?

Dustin November 6, 2013 at 5:06 pm

I frankly do not believe that the guy was stopped for appearing unkempt. Most likely he was stopped for another reason and his appearance simply exacerbated suspicion, which is not entirely irrational. You can tell me that you don’t make judgments of people based on appearance, but you’d be lying to me. It doesn’t help that Peterson happened to not include what the man was suspected of or his demeanor at the time of the incident.

UN-Common Sense November 6, 2013 at 10:51 pm

Dear Dustin, I believe you are arguing with people that don’t even know what ‘unkempt’ means…. don’t waste you’re time.. In my opinion (and i’m never wrong) you are correct.. thanks Dustin for not being stupid.

useless eater November 6, 2013 at 2:15 pm

The cop was a moron.
Then he received a Silver Valor AWARD for being a moron, and for wounding an unarmed man for what he WRONGLY believed.

Brian Rooney November 7, 2013 at 4:09 pm

If somebody pulls what appears to be a gun on you, I’d think the first response should be to DUCK!

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 11:02 am

LOL Talk about mislabeling something!
You guys make it seems as the cop shot someone standing still, talking on his phone.

No! The cop rightfully shot an idiot who wanted to film or picture them CHASING him. First the idiot was running, had he stood still when the cops first asked (as they did since he was running) he would have likely got away with nothing. Everyone should know that if you run from the police you are only making your self look a million times more suspicious.
Then he takes out an object and points it at them while they are chasing him?? This guy is either the most stupid criminal or he just WANTED to entice the cops into chasing him so that he could “make a movie of police abuse”.

fuzznarf November 6, 2013 at 11:47 am

Making fat cops run is a crime punishable by use of deadly force in your world. The fact is that he committed no crime to be stopped in the first place. They never charged him with an initial crime. They wanted to stop him for having messy hair. You’re an idiot if you think that sounds reasonable. OMFG it was ‘in every direction’

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 1:16 pm

You know this? That they wanted to stop him for having messy hair or are you just making joke/trying to have internet swag?
From the looks of the article they asked him to pull over and he ran like an idiot. Then ->while running<- he pulled out a phone and pointed it at them.

Not standing still pointing a phone at them then getting shot and starting to run, like you guys are making it sound

In my world that is acting like one of the most retarded people I can think of. Especially if you have illegal stuff in your car or on your person. In my world filming a fat ass cop trying to catch someone on foot would get you a lot of creds.. NOT filming a fat ass cop CHASING YOU. That is pure and simple stupidity!

fuzznarf November 6, 2013 at 2:26 pm

Yeah, we should never film interactions with the police, because the police don’t like that and we all have to be subservient slaves to their authority as ‘law enforcement’ officials. The fat POS shot the guy because he was pissed that the guy ran, and the fact they the gun was NOT mentioned as being illegal is proof enough that it was a legally carried firearm. Not to mention, as originally stated that there is never a mention of the reason for the intitial encounter given. If this guy was stopped for shoplifting, or similar crime, it would have been mentioned. The cop is seemingly justifying his shooting by the guy’s messy hair.

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 2:39 pm

Hmm you seem to be suffering from the condition of selective reading and understanding πŸ˜›

Good day πŸ™‚

fuzznarf November 6, 2013 at 3:17 pm

selective? what part? you mean the part where you inferred that ‘gun’ meant ‘illegal gun’ or the part where you assumed that where the cop is quoted β€œI believed it was a gun 100 percent,” Anderson said. He added, β€œHe had a blank look. He was very disheveled. His hair was just in every direction.” explains the illegal behavior you are assuming. I am basing everything from the facts presented. You are just making stuff up. So explain to me Mr. Know-it-all, what illegal crime did this man commit to justify being shot for, or even encountered for? Where does it say he did ANYTHING illegal?

Luke Murray November 11, 2013 at 11:59 am

Hmm you seem to be suffering from the condition of selective reading and understanding πŸ˜›

Good day πŸ™‚

haha.. do you have that copy and past on hand? you pasted it twice 5 days apart. nice try troll.

Daniel Hunt November 11, 2013 at 6:15 pm

Now now, don’t pick on officer Luke Murray. He is only doing what good cops do…protecting his murderous brothers in blue.

Luke Murray November 12, 2013 at 12:40 pm

lol… sigh

Hmm you seem to be suffering from the condition of selective reading and understanding πŸ˜›

“Anderson remembers how slowly the glass seemed to shatter as he fired his gun through his car window at a man he believed was pointing a gun at him.”

Luke Murray November 6, 2013 at 2:37 pm

lol yea makes for a bad movie.

Anthony Gooch November 6, 2013 at 11:05 am

“Disheveled” is such a bullshit word. I was arrested for failure to leave an educational institute by the U.C.O college police in edmond oklahoma….it cost me 28 days in the oklahoma county jail. On the police report they stated i had a back pack and looked disheveled…..that was their reason for stopping me……and then they lied and said i had been asked to leave property several days earlier…..So thats how they were able to arrest me. I was walking on their sidewalk which i still think is city property.

Scott November 6, 2013 at 1:01 pm

Well, his hair was disheveled. Death to him!

ArtieThe1 November 6, 2013 at 2:57 pm

The next time I use my cell phone in public I’ll make sure I’m sheveled.

upinsmoke187 November 6, 2013 at 1:49 pm

Well we need more to this story. was it late at night? hard to tell. was this an attempt at suicide by cop? I disagree with him getting the star. but I might have shot the guy to in a split second decision if the circumstances were right.

Steve Brock November 6, 2013 at 3:31 pm

What a pig,,

Jason LaCroix November 6, 2013 at 11:43 pm

These stories need to make the mainstream media. As long as they remain only covered by fringe sources, they will be ridiculed as nonsense or greatly exagerrated. Which only keeps the behaviors hidden away and repeated by both sides of the equation.

Gabriel Alan King November 7, 2013 at 12:15 am

What’s next ? The Nobel Peace prize for shooting a baby in a fuckin stroller ?

Tristan Finley Collins November 7, 2013 at 1:24 am

He was just jealous the man had hair…

GTP November 7, 2013 at 4:22 pm

And the ability to run.

Andre Dufour November 7, 2013 at 7:27 pm

His second chin should receive an award as well. Can’t forget the big guy.

caddy53 November 10, 2013 at 11:21 pm

Good thing that he was a lousy shot. Someone could have been killed.

SlimJim November 11, 2013 at 5:24 pm

Speaking of blank looks… perhaps it’s a donut deficiency. Sorry for the lame comment but I’m really at a loss for words.

Jason Slupski November 11, 2013 at 5:26 pm

Close-set, beady-lil’-eyed piggy with the head of Jabba the Hut. This was probably his “greatest” accomplishment in his whole, misbegotten pond-scum life.

Another gutless coward that can’t tell the difference between a gun and a phone . Where do they get these morons ?

Steve Daily November 12, 2013 at 8:26 am

What the F–k is going on in this country? How is the epidemic of crazed cops not put in check? How are we allowing our government to REWARD them for murdering people?
