Elizabeth Warren Praises Donald Trump on Taxes

Warren’s Statements Further Prove That Trump is a Fake

by Josh Guckert

On The View on Tuesday, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stated that “Donald Trump and I both agree that there ought to be more taxation of the billionaires, the people who are making their money on Wall Street.” Her comment is in reference to Trump’s recent statement that “The hedge fund people make a lot of money and they pay very little tax.”

Warren’s endorsement of Trump’s position on taxes follows Paul Krugman‘s declaration in The New York Times that “Trump is Right on Economics.”

Elizabeth Warren is, along with Bernie Sanders, considered to be one of the most liberal members of the United States Senate. The fact that she would applaud a Republican candidate for President (let alone the front-runner) on an issue as fundamental as taxation is telling.

Several of Trump’s rivals have pointed out that his record is anything but conservative. Over the last few years, he has changed his stance on nearly every policy. Even today, as he seemingly attempts to portray himself as a conservative, his rhetoric on taxes sounds more like Barack Obama than Barry Goldwater.

While some in the media have portrayed Trump as an “outsider” force attempting to “take back” the Republican Party from the “establishment,” it is quite the contrary. Trump represents the very worst of the GOP: the aspects of the party which have hijacked the messages of small government and individual liberty. If Trump were to be the nominee, he would be nothing more than a redux of the candidacies of Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Though this is his first attempt at political office, Trump embodies the very definition of a career politician: an ego-maniacal troglodyte who will do anything to get elected. As much as he attempts to separate himself from the rest of the field by appealing to populist themes, his lack of principles will ultimately doom him.

Partnering with liberals is not always a bad thing. Take, for example, when Rand Paul has partnered with Cory Booker and other Democrats in an attempt to reform the criminal justice system and end the War on Drugs. However, the difference is that Paul was working toward a goal of advancing individual liberties, regardless of ideology. In this instance, Trump is working alongside Democrats to take more income from wage-earners, thus curbing their freedom.

One can only hope that this is the beginning of the end for the Trump campaign. He has long attempted to disguise his totalitarian and liberal tendencies, and he has succeeded in keeping his overlap with leftists mostly hidden up to this point. Furthermore, through his demagoguery and personal attacks, Trump has deflected from the realities of his past: one which includes using big government when it has been to his advantage.

With Warren’s praise of Trump, there is no longer any doubt to be had toward the previous suspicions that Donald Trump is not a conservative whatsoever. Trump has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrats, including multiple donations to Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

On top of all of this, in true liberal fashion, Trump has proposed very little substantive policy on balancing the budget, other than that he wants to build a wall along the Southern border (in other words, more spending on infrastructure) and that he will not make any cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security or defense spending.

With this in mind, we are left to ponder a President that would make almost no cuts (and in fact, would drastically increase spending) while also substantially hiking taxes. We have come to expect candidates like these to be lauded by the likes of Krugman and Warren while being successful in a Democratic primary. However, few could have ever imagined that the same could happen so explicitly on the Republican side.

Now is the time for GOP voters to wake up and rid themselves of this conservative by convenience.
