Chris Christie Will Never Legalize Marijuana. (PODCAST)

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took to the airwaves to bash the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, stoking fears that if he were ever president he’d step up drug raids in states that obey the mandates of their citizens.

Speaking on a Jersey radio station, the governor remarked, “See if you want to live in a major city in Colorado where there’s head shops popping up on every corner and people flying into your airport just to come and get high. To me, it’s just not the quality of life we want to have here in the state of New Jersey and there’s no tax revenue that’s worth that.” He continued… “And if people want legalized marijuana in the state, elect a new governor.”

Christie’s rhetoric rings harshly in the ears of those people in Colorado who fear a potential Christie administration might be hostile to federalism and their state’s autonomy. The governor’s statements also are a strange retreat from his anti drug war rhetoric he used during his second inauguration speech when he said, “We will end the failed war on drugs that believes that incarceration is the cure of every ill caused by drug abuse.”

So what’s Christie’s beef? Is he just another big government Republican who’ll say anything to get elected and then put the bootheel on our necks the first chance he gets? Or does he have a single limited government bone in his body?
