See You in Hell, Madeleine Albright

by Julie Borowski

At a recent Hillary Clinton rally, Former secretary of state Madeleine Albright told the crowd, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”

Welp, see you in hell, Madeleine Albright.

Did she imply that women who don’t vote for Hillary Clinton are designed to burn in hell for eternity?

Because that would be all sorts of messed up.

When asked about the remarks at the presidential debate, Clinton basically shrugged it off. “She’s been saying that for as long as I’ve known her…”

I get the point of the quote.

Unfortunately, professional women aren’t known for helping each other out. The “Queen Bee Syndrome” still exists in many offices today, where female bosses are unwilling to support other women in their careers because they see them as a threat to their authority.

A 2011 survey by the American Management Association found that 95% of women believe that they have been undermined by another woman at some point in their careers. A University of Toronto study found that more women working under female bosses reported physical and psychological stress than those working under male bosses.

It’s dumb to undermine someone because of their gender. There can be more than one woman in positions of power! It’s also dumb to support someone only because of their gender. My reasons for not supporting Hillary have nothing to do with her gender– and everything to do with her horrible policies.  Even progressive women should agree with me that she is a disaster on foreign policy and civil liberties.

There should be no obligated for women to vote for a woman candidate. We should be free to vote for whoever we believe best represents us as individuals. If that means I’m going to hell, so be it.
