“I can hear their screams but I will do nothing to save them”
BELGIUM – Thioro Mbow reportedly called her husband and forced him to listen as she burned their three daughters to death in a woodshed. Husband Hellmut Ulin, listened in, powerless as he was 12 miles away, as his three children perished in the fire.
“I can hear their screams but I will do nothing to save them,” Mbow reportedly said. “You’d better hurry but you will be too late to rescue them. They won’t survive.”
Ulin had recently sent his wife a legal letter demanding custody of the three children, received the response of “I will never surrender my children to you.”
The little girl’s father raced to the site to save his daughters Omy, two years old, Abbygail, four years old, and Madyson, six years old. When he arrived on the scene, the woman allegedly told him calmly: “Ten minutes of screaming and then it was all over.”
A family friend who came to the scene said of the girl’s mother: “We saw the mother at the scene. There were no tears in her eyes and she did not seem to be in a panic.”
Mbow has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. She has one surviving daughter from a previous relationship, nine year old Dyarra, who was in school at the time of the murders.
