Hillary Praises Patricia Arquette On Gender Wage Gap; Paid Female Staffers .72 Cents On The Dollar To Men

Hillary Clinton spoke before an audience at a women’s tech conference in Silicon Valley recently, praising Patricia Arquette for her speech at the Oscar’s, where Arquette called for equal pay for women.

“Many women are paid less for the same work, which is why I think we all cheered at Patricia Arquette’s speech at the Oscars because she’s right — it’s time to have wage equality once and for all,” Clinton said. [RELATED: How can women solve the gender wage gap?]

Ironic that Clinton is pandering to a group of women at a tech conference – the one field where studies show virtually no gender wage gap.

Clinton herself has raised the issue just last year, saying that 20 years ago women made just “72 cents on the dollar to men”.

Then, on Tuesday’s broadcast of ABC’s The View, Whoopi Goldberg brought up a report showing Hillary Clinton paid women staffers 72 cents on each dollar compared to what her male employees were paid when she was a Senator.

Something Stinks!

Goldberg quickly came to Clinton’s defense, saying the whole thing is like a ‘bad fart’.

“Unless you know what the jobs were, were the men who got paid more, were they in jobs where they earned,” Goldberg said, “I mean, it’s hard. It’s like a bad fart. You put it out, and it wafts and people go, ‘Oh, you did it, you did it.’ Nobody knows. Is anybody telling us who got paid what for what?”

Nicole Wallace, host on The View responded,

“The law of the land is already equal pay for equal work. So, no one is suggesting that Hillary Clinton broke the law. I never thought a Democrat candidate for the nomination for president would be the one giving us a lesson on this, but the problem with the argument that Democrats and liberals make about equal pay is it’s impossible to know if the women have the same job or the same job experience as the men. Maybe they made 72 cents to the dollar because they didn’t have the same title. Maybe one was the press secretary and the other was the deputy.”

Is this where libertarians get to say ‘I told you so’?

Overall, statistics showing a gender wage gap are misconstrued, because it is difficult to know if the jobs that are being compared are, in fact, the same jobs.

Mark Perry, an economic scholar at the American Enterprise Institute stated in the report, “Either Clinton is guilty of gender discrimination and pays her female staffers significantly less than men, or she is guilty of statistical fraud for spreading misinformation about the alleged gender pay gap at the national level,” he said.

You can be the judge.
