Gunman Ends Robbery and Returns Wallet When Victim Prays For Him Outloud

By: Laura Meyers

Sometimes I really don’t like people. But then other times, I really do. Today, I really do.

Shaquille Hairston, 21, of Euclid, Ohio took a bus home in the middle of the night, and a man who had been riding with him stopped him and pulled out a gun after the two got off the bus.

“He said ‘Hey bruh,’ and I turned around and he pulled out a gun and said, ‘Gimme everything you got,” Hairston told Cleveland’s Fox 8 News.
When Hairston told the robber he didn’t have much, the attacker pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot.
“He raised the gun up and he was like ‘I’ll shoot you. I’m not playing with you, man.’ I’m just like, ‘So ok,’” Hariston said.
That’s when Hariston handed his wallet and cell phone to the man and began to pray out loud.
“Because even if that was gonna be my last night living, I wanted to go out knowing that God was with me and I had God on my mind and if I did go, I would be with him when I wake up on the other side,” he said.
Not only did he pray for himself, but Hariston prayed for the gunman and his family. Eventually, Hariston started a conversation with his attacker.

The robber became flustered and told Hairston that it was his first robbery and that he was doing it because he was unemployed.

“I’m just trying to make it out here like you,” Hairston replied.

He invited the gunman to his church, and after a few minutes the man made full circle.

“I’m so sorry for this. You were the wrong type of person to do this to, ” the robber told Hariston. “Man, you’re really blessed.”

“No, you’re blessed,” Hariston told the gunman. “I’ll be praying for you and your family.”

And the two strangers left.
