Jennifer Kennard, 48, was sentenced to three years in prison for six counts of second-degree rape of a 13-year-old special needs student. Kennard was also sentenced to two years in prison for six counts of third-degree rape, and one year for endangering the welfare of a child.

Kennard’s victim did not appear in court to face her, but wrote a letter that was read publicly. “She stole my innocence from me,” he wrote. “I felt imprisoned with no escape.”

Kennard had sex with the boy over the course of three years at least a dozen times, and told him that if he told anyone, that her husband would murder him.

The former teacher’s aid of East Irondequit middle school was described as “an evil person,” by the boy.

Upon release from prison, Kennard will be required to register as a sex offender.
