Diver Caught On Camera Ripping Out Another Diver’s Air Supply (VIDEO)

A video from an underwater attack by a scuba diver has surfaced which shows a man ripping out the air supply of another diver who was recording him.

Rene Umberger was filming around coral reefs to document damage done to the ecosystem when she came upon two men searching for reef fish. One of the divers noticed her, swam over and ripped her air supply out of her mouth.

Umberger said: “An inexperienced diver would likely panic. Either panic from the stress of the situation and shoot for the surface. They may panic because their air source is missing and they can’t find it. Any of those things causes a diver to shoot for the surface and those incidents often lead to death. Never in a million years. Never in a million years did I think that someone would attack like that, especially from such a distance. It’s not like we were close up or in their face.”

Umberger was able to reconnect her air supply, but it was damaged. The man who attacked her made another threatening gesture so she decided it was best to surface and evacuate the area. The State Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement says it is investigating the incident. Reef fishing is legal in the area if you have a proper permit.
