Boy suspended from school indefinitely for wearing a purse (VIDEO)

[contextly_sidebar id=”461b06c19d05a1fedc7b70964bb23f01″] GARNETT, KS – An eight grader named Skylar Davis was suspended from school on Wednesday for refusing to remove his purse at Anderson County Senior-Junior School. The boy’s mother believes he is being discriminated against because girls are allowed to have purses without repercussions. “I don’t think everyone should be treated differently,” Davis said. “Everyone should have the same privileges.”

Davis was summoned to the principal’s office when he refused to take off his purse. “I went to the office and I refused to take it off, and they suspended me,” he explained to KCTV5. His mother was called and told to come get her son. “I was a little furious, and I called the school [and spoke to Hillard] to reverify the story, and yeah, he refused to take off his Vera Bradley bag, nothing more to do it,” she said.

There is no mention in the student handbook about bags or purses and Davis is not allowed to come back until he takes the purse off, which he is refusing to do.

  1. Middle school males of Garnett, KS, you have a new assignment: bring a purse to school with you on Tuesday, November 12, and show public educators that you will not be sheep.

  2. I can’t believe this site picked up this garbage as well. Article is so misleading it is disgusting. He was not suspended for holding a purse. He was suspended for bringing bag into a classroom where bags are banned for everyone. That being said. All public schools should be abolished.
