They call him “Big Country”
BUFFALO, NY – Darnell Barton was driving his normal route along the Scajaquada Expressway when all of a sudden he saw a woman walking along the outside rail of the bridge. He stopped his vehicle, parked next to her and opened his door. “Ma’am are you OK?” he asked.
The woman didn’t react.
As he approached, she still didn’t react. When he finally was close enough he wrapped his huge arms all the way around her. The man known as “Big Country” held her tight.
She seemed totally disconnected. He said, “I grabbed her arm and put my arm around her and said ‘Do you want to come on this side of the guardrail?’, and that was actually the first time she spoke to me she said yes.”
He then lifted her over and sat with her, comforting her for a while. When officers and a counselor arrived they took over so Barton could get back to work. “It was meant to be,” Barton said. “I was supposed to be there for her at that moment and I was. I wanted to convey that whatever it was, I’m going to help you through and it’s not as serious as jumping onto the 198.”

Cool!
I’m glad to see people can still care for others even if they are strangers!
I like to get all my “shocking” videos from LiveLeaks. Please return to posting news related to the Libertarian movement.
We do whatever we want. Don’t tell us what to do.
In the spirit of liberty, I’d like to say that I value the freedom of speach of the guy complaining and the freedom of a private website to do whatever it sees fit.
That said, I kinda agree with the point that a more focused content might be a better idea… ..but here am I, watching the whole video and commenting on it… so…
but this is clearly listed under free-style. 😛
When it comes to philosophy and politics, culture matters. If you don’t get that, you might be suffering from a lack of empathy. This story is important to libertarianism because it shows people not being coerced and helping one another. I don’t explain that in the stories because it’s really up to the audience to decide how they feel about something. I just present the information. Unless it’s an Op-ed, in which I am giving my opinion.
People are what makes this society great. Good man. Very uplifting.
This is a nice change from all the racially-charged crap posted lately.
Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for reading.
There are hundreds of such acts of kindness in our land every day by good people just like this man. Of course, such goodness doesn’t make news or sell papers. so instead we get all the stuff that keeps us divided by race and religion.
This is amazing!
Wow! This guy is cool. Thanks for posting this up, its always nice seeing people help each other out in moments of hopelessness.
