In the past year, we’ve seen more hospitals and healthcare service providers using electronic health records, EHRs, as part of their workflows. According to the MHA online department of Ohio University, while service providers gain a lot from implementing an electronic medical record system, the true benefits of EHRs are actually enjoyed by us patients. EHRs enable doctors to provide better treatments based on a patient’s complete medical history. The risks of misdiagnosis and the use of incorrect medications (i.e. those that cause an allergic reaction) can be avoided entirely.
EHRs also allow you to get the same level of treatment and accuracy no matter which hospital you visit. More patients are now opting to have their medical history stored in the cloud. You still have complete control over your personal information, but you can grant doctors or physicians access to your full medical history at any time.
The implementation of EHRs will definitely make our healthcare system better and more reliable.
