Cruz Calls GOP Congressional Leadership “Effective Democrats”

Republican candidate for president, Senator Ted Cruz, threw down the gauntlet to GOP leadership once again during an event early on Sunday:

“The truth of the matter is Republican leadership are the most effective Democrat leaders we’ve ever seen. They’ve passed more Democratic priorities than Harry Reid ever could”

Cruz has continued his attacks on the Republican establishment since this summer as a method of trying to set himself apart from the rest of the Republican presidential field. The Republican has marketed himself as an Tea Party and libertarian leaning option to the electorate. During the event Cruz continued to remark on the current state of the Congressional leadership:

Cruz asked the audience to imagine what a difference it might have made if all eleven Republican presidential candidates had descended on D.C. during the recent battle on defunding Planned Parenthood. What would have happened if they all spoke with one voice and stood up to House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnel..

As of the current Real Clear Politics poll, Cruz stands in fourth place behind frontrunner Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, and Senator Marco Rubio.
