Crash and burn! Visits to Obamacare website down 88%

We at The Libertarian Republic are familiar with how difficult it is to run a website. The Internet is fickle and you don’t usually get many second chances. If people have a bad experience, they won’t come back. Now it appears like Obamacare’s website is suffering from just that problem.

The Washington Post reported today that traffic to the website has crashed by 88%, a catastrophic drop for a site that is supposed to be aimed at helping people acquire government health care benefits. Healthcare.gov received 9.4 million unique visitors the first week with a third trying to register and only 1.01 million actually successfully completing the process. 36,000 people signed up the first week.

Administration officials claim the numbers provided by Millward Brown Digital are inaccurate, although they do admit traffic is down. Matthew Pace, The Digital Vice President of Millward Brown stated, “The fact that millions of Americans not only visited the exchanges but also took what actions they could to register and enroll suggests that demand indeed exists for new health-care options,” Pace said. “As the site improves and more consumers are able to compare their coverage options, they’ll decide with their wallets how truly affordable Obamacare turns out to be.”
