The British people may be forced to give up some of their liberty to potentially deport, and slow the movements of suspected terrorists of whom there may not be enough evidence to prosecute.

British Prime Minister Theresa May explained she would be willing to weaken human rights protections to make it easier to deport or slow the travel of potential terrorists, even if there is not enough evidence to prosecute them, reports the Epoch Times.

During one of her final final speeches of her current election campaign, May explained that Britain should not allow “our human rights laws stop us” from dealing with potential terrorists.

“If our human rights laws stop us from doing it, we will change the laws so we can do it,” May said to her audience that met her with cheers, according to the Epoch Times.

May’s comments come on the heels of three major terror attacks in her country, in all three circumstances, it appears that the British government had some forewarning about the perpetrators.

The Prime Minister also called for longer prison sentences for people convicted of terror, and to make it easier to deport foreign suspected militants, said the Epoch Times.

In the wake of her remarks, May did reassure the European Union that Britain would remain a signatory of the European Convention on Human Rights until 2022, but Tuesday’s remarks signal she would look at ways around the rules if necessary, according to the Epoch Times.
