Top 3 Times Emotion Replaced Fact for Tomi Lahren

By Amber Loveshe

By now most of us are familiar with the ‘Final Thoughts’ that are paradoxically never ending. If there’s one thing you know about Blaze TV host Tomi Lahren, it’s that she is known for her controversial statements made both on her Twitter account and the show itself. But once you get past the loud noise of Lahren’s incessant whining you begin to hear the unsound logic that is often found throughout her videos. Here are just a few of my favorites:

1.) Chelsea Manning

After Chelsea Manning received a pardon from former president Barack Obama, Tomi took to her desk to rip apart the veteran for exposing government corruption in the military. Chelsea, who partnered with WikiLeak’s own Julian Assange, seven years ago, was repeatedly labeled as a “traitor.” Lahren, rather than attacking the tyrannical acts of government Chelsea exposed, focused on attacking Manning’s transition from male to female. Not only should we question Tomi’s diversion to discussing war crimes, but we should not forget that Tomi praised WikiLeaks just a few months ago when the exposed party was The Democratic National Committee. Additionally, when Lahren spoke on the Trump tapes, she emphasized that the audio was President Trump’s words, not actions. Yet Tomi relished in the words exposed in the emails of the Democratic National Committee, but not in the actions of the government. It seems as though Lahren is subtly favoring infringements on civil liberties so long as a Republican is in power.

2. Black Lives Matter

During her sit-down interview with The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, the two discussed a matter of issues Lahren has been vocal about, including her attitudes towards the Black Lives Matter movement. While Tomi began by stating she believed the movement began with good intentions, she claims to have lost complete respect for the cause when protesters grew violent at various publicized riots. Though Tomi felt comfortable writing off an entire anti-government oppression group based on the actions of a minority of members, her rules change when asked about the Trump movement. When Noah mentioned the controversial rise in the ‘Alt-Right’ movement with President Trump’s campaign, Lahren responded, “You have to separate those from Trump supporters at large,”. Because generalization doesn’t benefit her narrative, Tomi disregards the logic she used with Trevor just minutes before. “They say, ‘We are the Black Lives Matter Movement’,” Tomi insisted. Again, we see Tomi concentrating on the wording of a political enemy when the narrative suits her agenda. Even if we were to believe Tomi cares about the way in which protesters are assembling for the Black Lives Matter movement, she contradicts herself with her criticisms of Colin Kaepernick. Lahren has expressed discontent for both violent and peaceful protesting in the name of this movement.

3.) The Cast of Hamilton

“Let he without sin cast the first stone,” Tomi stated in response to the Hamilton cast’s address to Vice President Mike Pence. While Tomi spends a great deal of her time calling the left ‘special snowflakes’, her entire thoughts in this video are essentially a temper tantrum against a cast exercising their first amendment rights in a peaceful format. If you’re expecting Tomi to address the issues the cast spoke about to Pence, don’t hold your breath. Instead, she got creative by rifling through old tweets from the cast in an effort to delegitimize them. Tomi got her own taste of ancient tweets when followers dug up tweets she sent out during her time in college, and she was quick to remind everyone that, “I’m a human being.” It seems that perhaps Lahren should practice what her teleprompters are writing for her to preach. She writes off the cast’s actions as a ploy to gather attention. While this may be true, as the cast has an opportunity to speak to a wider audience than the average person, it makes little sense why Tomi should cast these actions in a negative light. After all, Tomi’s newest video shows her proud support for Milo Yiannopoulos, a spokesperson famed for doing just that, only with the purpose of triggering “snowflakes” in mind. I guess for Tomi it’s okay to speak out in order to draw attention as long as it’s only upsetting liberals and not questioning the government.
