Snowden: There May Never Be a Safer Election to Vote Third Party

by Josh Guckert

On Twitter Friday, Edward Snowden tweeted that 2016 may be the year for Americans to finally vote for a third party. He said this in light of the fact that The New York Times currently gives Hillary Clinton a 93% chance of winning the presidential election.

It should not be surprising to many that Snowden is promoting third-party options, as Jill Stein and Gary Johnson likely represent the presidential candidates most sympathetic to his cause. Stein states that she would grant a full pardon to the famous whistle-blower, as has Johnson.

Meanwhile, Trump has said of Snowden that “I think Snowden is a terrible threat, I think he’s a terrible traitor, and you know what we used to do in the good old days when we were a strong country — you know what we used to do to traitors, right?”

Clinton stated, “He broke the laws of the United States. He could have been a whistle-blower. He could have gotten all of the protections of being a whistle-blower. He could have raised all the issues that he has raised. And I think there would have been a positive response to that. . .In addition—in addition, he stole very important information that has unfortunately fallen into a lot of the wrong hands. So I don’t think he should be brought home without facing the music.”
