Tragic, but necessary?
Police shot and killed a bear that was roaming through Russia’s far eastern Primorye territory on Sunday. “The animal appeared to act aggressively and posed danger to people,” a local citizen told police. Officers giggled as they filled the poor animal up with lead, killing it before it could become a danger to local citizens. Luckily no one was harmed, but the police might have shown more respect when taking the life of an animal who has historically been the proud symbol of Russian strength.
