MSNBC host Rachel Maddow took aim at the Tea Party, claiming that there are “echoes of the Confederacy” in the movement. She discussed what she sees as the rise of neoconfederates in the Republican party.

“It is an interesting question,” Maddow says, “whether being associated with the Confederacy — not just with the South, but with southern, white secession — it’s an interesting question whether being associated with that hurts individual elected officials.”
MSNBC has been on the warpath lately for what they see as the rise in popularity for the cause of the Southern Confederates. Of course, they tend to gloss over the fact that historically the Democrats were the party of racism and the confederacy.
