Book Ban Backfires Against Butthurt Parents Who Called The Cops Over A Novel

Publisher will now be donating more copies of banned book

Sherman Alexie’s young adult novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,” frequently used in public school curricula, has generated controversy for its depictions of sex and violence. In Idaho, parents concerned about the book’s content have expressed their concerns in exactly the wrong way – and their efforts have had the opposite of the intended effect.

After parents removed the book from their school’s curriculum, local bookstore Rediscovered Books concocted a plan to distribute free copies of the novel to students.

KBOI reports that, as the books were being distributed, a parent called the police. The police arrived but took no action.

Apparently as a result of the phone call, the book’s publisher is donating another 350 books to Rediscovered, who plan to have another book giveaway next week.
