Why did Occupy Wall Street fail? ‘Too many Indians, not enough chiefs’

It’s the second anniversary since the Occupy Wall Street movement began. CNN Money held a panel featuring Mark Bray, author of the book Translating Anarchy who estimated that around 72% of the people he spoke to at OWS were anarchists. His definition of anarchist was that they rejected compromise with capitalism. While that may be what many socialists and communists believe, that certainly is not the technical definition. Anarchy simply means “without rulers”.

Modern socialists pretend to be anarchists, but in reality what they are proposing is the opposite. Socialists and communists are proposing central control over the means of production. They want every action of the individual to be planned by the central planners. Your schooling would be planned, your exercise would be planned, your meals would be planned and all controlled by the state. That is not anarchy. That is simply violent communism repackaged as anarchy. Anarchy comes first, then comes central planning. Then dekulakization.

The anchor asks the panel why they think OWS failed, to which former Lehman Brothers VP Lawrence McDonald replies: “It was too many Indians, not enough Chiefs.”
