Based on a tweet from ABC News digital reporter Jordyn Phelps, Gary Johnson will run a full-page ad in The New York Times tomorrow. The political informational graphic will feature the statistic that 62% of voters wish to see Johnson in the presidential debates.

The majority of the ad consists of an “open letter” to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) demanding inclusion of the Libertarian ticket. That letter features the many debate endorsements of other newspapers. It also points to the fact that “much has changed” with polling and politics since 1992. Johnson and Weld conclude by saying that if they do not meet 15% following inclusion in the first debate, they will not make further efforts for inclusion in subsequent debates.

As more pressure builds, it becomes more difficult to ignore the Libertarian ticket. They have received endorsements to debate from former Republican governors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mitt Romney, and Marc Racicot. This is in addition to the endorsements of the periodicals mentioned in the Johnson team’s open letter.

If nothing else, this full-page ad should catch the eyes of not just the CPD, but also millions of Americans. That in itself may assist the Libertarians in reaching more Americans, thus climbing ever closer to the 15% threshold.
