‘I Engaged My Rage’ Says Student Who Destroyed Anti-Abortion Signs

The student who punched in, kicked, and otherwise trashed anti-abortion signs released a video saying that he “engaged his rage” and hopes he was able to “inspire” people.

“First off, I reject bigotry,” Ian Ramos, the student who destroyed the anti-abortion signs on Texas State University campus on Monday, said in a video posted on Twitter.

Ramos, a history and government student, is currently studying “nonviolent social resistance” at the university. “I don’t have to put up with anyone peddling some false, ignorant ideology. I engaged my rage.” (RELATED: Guy Goes Berserk At Sight Of Pro-Life Signs On Campus [VIDEO])

“Maybe it wasn’t the most constructive way to do it,” continued Ramos. “But, you know, I’m sick and tired of being subjected to this ignorance. These anti-abortion activists come onto our campus every semester using their distorted imagery of aborted fetuses to try and shock us into becoming pro-life?”

“Man, abortion is a profoundly personal choice and it deserves to be preserved and protected as a fundamental right of women.”

Ramos proceeded to state that abortion is coming under attack in Texas.

“[Pro-life activists] try and provoke us emotionally and what do they expect?” he asked in the video. “So yeah, I hope I was able to inspire a few of you all out there. I don’t know – speak up, wake up. Engage the opposition.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation spoke with Ramos regarding his actions.

“I kind of regret being so emotionally-charged,” said the student. “But I think we’re living in a really critical time right now and it’s our job as intellectual beings to engage with things that are wrong.”

“Of course [the pro-life activist] has the right to display those signs,” acknowledged Ramos. “He’s a provocateur; he’s trying to arouse emotionally and then from there he wants to start some sort of intellectual discussion that’s going to bring us over to his side.”

Ramos is a history and government student at Texas State and is currently in the process of getting certified to teach.
