In Chicago: Concealed Carry Up, Gun Crime Down (PODCAST)

The Washington Times is reporting that the murder rate for the first quarter of the year in Chicago is the lowest that it’s been in more than 50 years. The first three months of 2014 are the fewest since 1958.

Representative Louie Gohmert stated, “The facts are every time guns have been allowed, concealed-carry has been allowed, the crime rate has gone down.”

Another interesting statistic is that even though violent gun crime is at the lowest its been nationally in 20 years, the American people’s perception is that gun crime is on the rise. Could it be that the media constantly hypes incidents such as those at Fort Hood, Newtown and in Aurora and tends to downplay those where violent crimes were deterred by people who were armed and ready?
