Bernie Sanders defended fellow Democrat and opponent for their party’s presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton, last night in the first Democratic debate of the 2016 election cycle. On the issue of Hillary Clinton’s private server and emails–which are the subject of an ongoing FBI investigation–Sanders had this to say:
“Let me say something that may not be great politics…the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”
Hillary responded with a quick “thank you” and later shook Senator Sanders hand, thanking him again. This comes after Clinton characterized the current Benghazi select committee, which discovered the existence of Clinton’s private server arrangement, as a GOP partisan ploy to hurt her poll numbers. Clinton and Sanders are the current frontrunners for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
