Asked What Clinton Foundation Did With Foreign Money, Bill Laughs

By Rachel Stoltzfoos

Asked by a backer why someone at the Foundation doesn’t just honestly explain to the press where the highly publicized foreign donations went, Bill Clinton laughed.

“I open the newspaper and I was shocked to see these attacks on the Foundation,” telecom billionaire Mo Ibrahim said during a conference in Morocco to promote the Foundation’s charitable work. “And what amazed me is, I used to respect American media, and I was amazed … none of those people asked a question: What this foundation is doing actually?”

The Clinton Foundation has come under intense scrutiny since the revelation it received millions in donations from foreign governments while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, including from Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. (RELATED: Clinton Foundation Put On Charity Watch List Along With Al Sharpton’s Shady Nonprofit)“What is wrong if Saudi Arabia gives money for a farm in Africa?” Ibrahim added. “What’s the big deal? Is that not a good thing to do? … [I’m] sad because I didn’t see anybody from the Foundation standing up and really have a go at that … What is this money for? What have you done with it?”

Clinton laughed and replied dismissively: “I just work there, I don’t know.” (RELATED: Hillary Is Already Telling Jokes About Her Private Email Fiasco)

But Ibrahim made it clear he wanted a real answer, and Clinton responded, ”I think, you know, you just,” he stammered. “Look, there’s one set of rules for politics in America and another set for real life, and you just have to deal with it.”

The still earnest IBrahim didn’t take the bait: “This would not apply. These are respectable newspapers, you should not … ”

Clinton then said he understands and thanked the man for saying those kind words about the Foundation and then abruptly changed the subject. (VIDEO: CNN: Clinton Foreign Fundraising ‘Damaging’)
