Satirists Trick Internet Into Believing Yelp Sued South Park

Note- While multiple sites were reporting this, it turns out to be a work of some trolls or a satirist. The story is not true, but still quite amusing. We do apologize for any confusion as we were among several sites which ran the story this morning.

South Park is no stranger to upsetting people, every week the show usually lampoons a current event or a group of people. In the world of South Park, no one is safe and that’s what makes the show so great. Anyone can be a target; creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone indiscriminately poke fun at everyone.

Last week the show set its sights on Yelp, the food critic app where users can post reviews of restaurants and fast food joints. Cartman was out of line, as he is in every episode, and the other users had a sense of entitlement as though they were “real” food critics.

The people in charge of Yelp were none too pleased and in response filed a lawsuit against Trey and Matt for $10 million dollars.

Their statement reads:

Trey and Matt responded in epic fashion, by reviewing the lawsuit filed by Yelp in the same way a Yelp user would review a restaurant:

This isn’t the first time the show has upset someone so badly that they wanted to sue. After attacking Scientology and accusing Tom Cruise of being in the closet for an entire episode, Tom Cruise threatened a lawsuit.

Good job Yelp, now you have placed yourself in the same category as Tom Cruise, kinda crazy and unable to take a joke.
