Writer for CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Ariel Dumas, said she regrets reveling in the suffering of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and being glad the media ruined his life.
Dumas originally celebrated the chaos surrounding Kavanaugh on Twitter, but then promptly deleted the tweet.
“Whatever happens, I’m just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh’s life,” the deleted tweet read, according the Fox News. Her tweet came as the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh by a final tally of 50-48.
Dumas apologized for the tweet Sunday and blamed personal problems and “frustration” for her comments.
The last couple of weeks have been hard for the country and for me personally. The complexity of frustration, anger and sadness can’t be accurately conveyed on twitter, and I regret my tone-deaf attempt at sarcasm in the wake of it.

Kavanaugh was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts on Saturday evening despite a drawn-out confirmation battle, which included allegations of sexual assault by Christine Blasey Ford, among other women. Kavanaugh has denied all wrongdoing and claimed the hearings were nothing more than a political hit job.
