HOUSTON, TX – Karen Lee Carstens, 43, was convicted of sexual assault of a child and sentenced to five years probation. Carstens and the boy’s sexual relationship took place over a two-year long period and began when he was just 13 years old.
The boy, who is now 19 years old, was the son of the woman’s best friend. Their relationship began with touching but eventually progressed to sex, according to the court documents.
The victim described specific encounters that took place while his mother was in the hospital with a gallbladder infection. He explained how on one occasion he and Carstens were watching TV when she started having sex with him. He remembered how he cried after out of fear that he had gotten her pregnant.
Carstens left Texas and ended their relationship but not before she gave him strict orders to keep their relationship a secret.
Thankfully he spoke up and an investigation was able to produce enough evidence to bring the case to trial. The trial began on April 24, 2014 and ended on April 30, 2014.
So it seems gun policy in Texas gets all the attention, with pro gun control activists working around the clock to make criminals out of innocent people, while their own court system gives just 5 year probation to someone obviously guilty who has physically, emotionally and mentally scarred a child for their entire life.
If safety is really the main concern, shouldn’t they be putting their energy into protecting someone’s liberties instead of taking them away?
